Oct. 20, 2009 -- The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced its men's soccer weekly awards on Tuesday with North Central College's Mike McEvoy landing Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Making just his third start of the season, the sophomore goalkeeper notched six saves, helping the Cardinals to the 2-0 non-conference victory over Lake Forest College on Tuesday. McEvoy played all 90 minutes in goal, picking up his sixth career shutout.

The sophomore has now won CCIW Player of the Week honors twice in his career, McEvoy claimed his first honor back on Sept. 4, 2008.

The Cardinals (7-8, 2-3 CCIW) have won two straight games heading into Wednesday's conference clash against Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis. Gametime at Art Keller Field is slated for 7 p.m.
