KENOSHA, Wis. (Oct. 21, 2009) -- A trio of goals in the final 35 minutes of play proved to be the difference-maker as host Carthage College defeated the North Central College, 3-0, in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin men's soccer match at Art Keller Field.
The two team's played to a stalemate in the first stanza with the Red Men owning a slim six to five advantage in shots.
Tyler Cortez broke up the deadlock in the 55th minute courtesy of a Jordan Innis assist, in what proved to be the game-winner. Aleks Urosevic tacked on an insurance goal in the 82nd minute with Innis once again setting up the score before Tyler Peterson slipped in the game's final goal in the 89th minute.
The Cardinals ripped off 10 shots on target in the game while the Red Men only mustered five shots on net.
Goalkeeper
Phillip Klipp stopped two shots on the night while his counterpart Aaron Dirck turned away 10 shots to record the shutout.
North Central falls to 7-9 overall and 2-4 in CCIW action with the loss while Carthage improves to 4-7-4 on the year and 3-3 in league play. The Cardinals return to the pitch on Sunday, October 25, traveling to River Forest, Ill. to face Concordia University Chicago in the team's final non-conference game of the season.
