Oct. 6, 2009 -- Nico Galto has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Men's Soccer Player of the Week after scoring three goals and helping North Central College split a pair of conference games.
Galto tallied three goals and one assist for the week, helping the Cardinals finish the week with a 1-1 mark. Against 23rd ranked Wheaton College, Galto netted the game's first goal, scoring on a header in the 3rd minute while getting an assist in the Cardinals' second goal of the night in the 6-2 loss. Against Millikin University on Saturday, Galto emerged as the hero, scoring two goals on the night, including the game-winner in the 95th minute.
The sophomore becomes the second Cardinal this season to claim the award,
Phillip Klipp secured CCIW Defensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 22.
The Cardinals (5-6, 1-1 CCIW) face Elmhurst College tonight at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium with kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
