BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (Oct. 6, 2009) - For the second straight week, the North Central College volleyball team was able to come from behind and record a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin victory, triumphing over the Illinois Wesleyan University Titans, 3-2, at the Shirk Center Tuesday.
The Cardinals (19-1, 3-1 CCIW) fell behind early as the hosts claimed the first set, 25-21. North Central bounced back to win the second set by the same score, though IWU moved closer to victory with another 25-21 win in the third set.
The visitors staved off defeat by winning a 28-26 nailbiter in the fourth set, then closed out the match by coming out on top in the fifth set, 15-10.
Jenae Harner turned in a team-high 16 kills for the Cardinals, while
Crystal Wright added 14 and
Stacie Mokros totaled 12.
Ryan Lally handed out 46 assists.
Stephanie Ryding paced North Central's defensive efforts with a season-high 40 digs. Ali Briner recorded three total blocks.
The Cardinals travel to the University of Chicago Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
