Nov. 3, 2009 - North Central College volleyball players Jenae Harner and Stephanie Ryding have been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Players of the Week for Oct. 26-Nov. 1.

Harner, the CCIW's Offensive Player of the Week, posted 67 kills (3.72 per set) along with 12 service aces, 65 digs and five block assists as North Central went 5-0 last week. She hit .345 with 14 kills in a 3-0 win over Augustana on October 27. Harner also achieved double figures in kills in each of the four matches North Central played in at the Benedictine University Tournament over the weekend. She recorded four service aces and 16 digs in a 3-1 win over Coe on Friday, and had four aces and 17 digs in a 3-1 win over Monmouth (Ill.) on Saturday to earn all-tournament honors.

Ryding, who was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week, finished with 133 digs (7.39 per set) and nine service aces last week. She posted at least 30 digs three times, including 35 in the win over Monmouth (Ill.) on Saturday. She also finished with 33 digs and four service aces in the win over Coe on Friday to earn All-Tournament honors.

Harner has 186 kills and 117 digs on the season and currently ranks ninth in the CCIW in kills per set (2.70). Ryding has 752 digs and 45 service aces this year and leads the CCIW in digs per set (6.16).

A total of five Cardinals have received Player of the Week Awards from the CCIW this season. Other honorees include Christy Hermann on Oct. 20, Ryan Lally on Oct. 13 and Crystal Wright on Sept. 29. Ryding was also named Player of the Week on Sept. 9.

The Cardinals (32-3) host Augustana College on Tuesday in a CCIW Tournament Play-In Match. Action is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and live in-match statistics will be available at northcentralcardinals.com.
