Nov. 5, 2009 – North Central College volleyball player Stephanie Ryding has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) ESPN The Magazine College Division Academic All-District Second Team.

The College Division includes all non-NCAA Division I institutions. Ryding was named to the six-member Second Team in District 5, which encompasses the states of Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Minnesota, as well as the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Manitoba.

Ryding has started all 36 matches at libero for the Cardinals (33-3) this season. She has recorded 782 digs this season, the fourth-highest single-season total in school history, and leads the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin in digs per set (6.21). She has been named the CCIW's Defensive Player/Setter of the Week twice this season, and was a Second Team All-CCIW selection in 2007 and a First Team All-CCIW pick last year. She ranks second in school history in career digs (2,511) and third in service aces (160).

Ryding is a triple major in management, international business and Spanish at North Central, carrying a cumulative grade-point average of 3.93. She was recently named North Central's Lincoln Laureate,a distinction granted to one senior in each of the four-year, degree granting institutions in Illinois each year in recognition of academic excellence and leadership.

The Cardinals travel to Carthage College for the CCIW Tournament this weekend. North Central plays Millikin University in the semifinal round at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The championship match will be played at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
