KENOSHA, Wis. (Nov. 6, 2009) – The North Central College volleyball team qualified for the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin championship match for the first time Friday, as the Cardinals defeated Millikin University, 3-1, in the semifinal round at Carthage College's Tarble Arena.
North Central (34-3) came away with the victory in four hotly-contested sets against the Big Blue to win its 13th consecutive match. After scoring a narrow 25-23 win in the opening frame, Millikin (19-20) rallied to even the match by taking the second set, 25-20. The Cardinals fought back from a late deficit in each of the final two sets to post the victory, winning, 26-24 and 25-21.
Jenae Harner led North Central's attack with 15 kills, and her 26 digs ranked just one behind Stephanie Ryding's team-high total of 27. Ryan Lally totaled 50 assists and Stacie Mokros finished with six total blocks.
