Nov. 9, 2009 -- North Central College men's soccer players Micah Melendrez and Nico Galto were honored by the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin with selections to the All-Conference team released today. Melendrez lands a spot on the First Team while Galto is a Second Team selection.

Melendrez makes his fourth appearance on the All-CCIW team, having been a Second Team selection the previous three years. The senior midfielder becomes just the second four-time All-CCIW player in school history, joining Chris Roggen '97 who was a four-time First Team selection from 1993-1996. Melendrez started all 18 of the team's games this season, leading the team in goals (seven) and points (19) while finishing second on the squad in assists with five. His seven goals was the third best total this season within the conference.

Galto makes his first appearance on the All-CCIW team after finishing the season with seven goals, while also registering four assists. The sophomore forward had two multiple-goal games on the season, including a two-goal performance against Millikin University that including scoring the game-winner in overtime.

North Central finished the year 8-10 overall and 2-5 in CCIW action. Highlighting the team's season was a 3-2 double overtime victory over then 14th-ranked Carleton College (Minn.) on Sep. 5 while also claiming its second consecutive Sal Vaccaro Tournament Championship.
