Men's Tennis topples Aurora, 9-0

The North Central College men's tennis team remained spotless at home, putting together an all-around dominating performance in a 9-0 win over local rival Aurora University at the Naperville North tennis courts.

With the threat of rain in the forecast, singles matches were played first with the Cardinals winning all 12 sets. Matt Boguslawski, Josh Clay, Chris Bennorth and Ben Youel all turned in 6-0, 6-0 victories playing in the No. 2, 4, 5 and 6 positions, respectively, while Sam Sweeney and Eric McKee cruised to indentical 6-0, 6-1 victories in the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. The win was Sweeney's 10th victory of the season, extending his singles record to a team-best 10-2.

The Cardinals continued their relentless play in doubles where Sweeney and Boguslawski picked up the 8-0 victory over the Micun brothers at the No. 1 position while at No. 3, Ben and his brother Gabe Youel netted the 8-0 win for the combos first doubles victory of the season. McKee and Clay wrapped up doubles action at the No. 2 position, where the duo posted an 8-2 victory.

With the win, North Central improves to 7-5 overall and remains unbeaten (2-0) in matches played in Naperville. The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, facing Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Ill. before returning back to Naperville North on Monday, April 6, where the team will put its home win streak on the line against Concordia University Chicago.
