CHICAGO (Sept. 11, 2009) - The North Central College volleyball team continued their unblemished start to the season on Friday, posting 3-0 victories over Concordia University Chicago and Judson University (Ill.) at the North Park University Tournament.
The Cardinals opened play with a 25-19 victory over Concordia in the opening set, then cruised to 25-17 and 25-13 wins in the next two to complete the sweep.
Emily Cardwell totaled 14 kills in just 27 attack attempts for North Central, while
Crystal Wright added nine kills and led the team with 12 digs and three service aces. Ryan Lally# finished with 30 assists,
Amy Bruns turned in two solo blocks, and
Christy Hermann added one solo block and three block assists.
North Central also experienced little resistance in its second match of the day, taking down Judson, 25-17, 25-9, 25-19. Wright finished with 16 kills in 32 attempts, as Cardwell added nine and Lally contributed 31 assists.
Stephanie Ryding led the Cardinals with 15 digs while Wright and
Anna Wirtz each had 11, and
Jamie Drozd recorded three service aces.
Now a perfect 8-0 this season, North Central takes on Wisconsin Lutheran College at 10 a.m. on Saturday, followed by a 12 p.m. contest with Marian University (Wis.)
