CHICAGO (Sept. 12, 2009) - The North Central College volleyball team completed a four-match sweep at the North Park University Tournament on Saturday, defeating Wisconsin Lutheran College, 3-1, and Marian University (Wis.), 3-0, to improve to 10-0 on the season.
The Cardinals lost the opening set to Wisconsin Lutheran, 25-20, before sweeping the next three, 25-20, 25-11, and 25-16.
Stacie Mokros finished with a team-high 12 kills, while
Crystal Wright added 11 and
Emily Cardwell totaled 10.
Ryan Lally finished with 37 assists and
Stephanie Ryding compiled 13 digs and four service aces.
North Central closed out the weekend by whitewashing Marian, 25-14, 25-14, 25-12.
Christy Hermann led the Cardinals' attack with eight kills, as Wright and Cardwell tallied six. Lally totaled 25 assists, Ryding added six aces and 10 digs, and Hermann also put up a solo block and two block assists.
The Cardinals open College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin play on Tuesday, traveling to defending CCIW champion Carthage College. Play is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
