KENOSHA, Wis. (Sep. 15, 2009) --
In a battle of unbeaten squads, something had to give Tuesday night at Tarble Arena, as the North Central College volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to fourth-ranked Carthage College in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opener for both teams.

The host Lady Reds claimed the first set in convincing fashion, posting the 25-7 victory. The Cardinals kept it close in the second set before ultimately succumbing to Carthage, 25-20. Host Carthage wrapped up the match in the third set, posting the 25-12 win for the sweep.

Crystal Wright spearheaded the Cardinals' offensive efforts, posting eight kills on the night while Emily Cardwell recorded seven. Ryan Lally led the team with 18 assists while also recording a service ace while defensively Stephanie Ryding racked up 13 digs.

The loss snaps a 10-game winning streak for the Cardinals (10-1, 0-1 CCIW) while Carthage remains perfect at 7-0 overall and 1-0 in CCIW play. North Central returns to action on Saturday, September 19, hosting the Tiffany Robinson Memorial Triangular at Gregory Arena. The Cardinals opening match against Benedictine University begins at 10 a.m.
