Sept. 22, 2009 -- Goalkeeper
Phillip Klipp has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Defensive Player of the Week after allowing just one goal last week as the Cardinals captured their second straight Sal Vaccaro Tournament Championship.
In the tournament opener on Friday against Eureka College (Ill.), Klipp notched his first career shutout as the team held off the Red Devils, 1-0. The sophomore made just one save on the afternoon, deflecting a shot headed for the upper right corner midway through the first half.
In Saturday's Championship game, Klipp once again shined, allowing just one goal and recording four saves in the thrilling 2-1 overtime victory. Klipp finished the week with a 0.47 goals against average, logging in all 187 minutes in goal.
North Central (4-4) returns to the pitch on Thursday, September 24, hitting the road to face Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon where they will look to avenge last year's season ending overtime loss to the Falcons.
