DECATUR, Ill. (Sept. 22, 2009) - The North Central College volleyball team leveled its College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin record at 1-1 Tuesday, making quick work of the Millikin University Big Blue in a 3-0 rout at the Griswold Center.
Millikin (9-5, 1-1 CCIW) hung close in the opening two sets, though the Cardinals ultimately prevailed, 25-21 and 25-20. North Central slammed the door on the Big Blue with a 25-14 victory in the third set.
The Cardinals, who have now won 13 of 14 matches this season, were led in their attack by
Emily Cardwell and
Crystal Wright, who finished with 14 and 12 kills, respectively.
Ryan Lally finished with 32 assists and
Jamie Drozd provided a pair of service aces.
Stephanie Ryding turned in a team-high 18 digs, with
Anna Wirtz adding nine.
Christy Hermann finished with four block assists, while
Amy Bruns totaled two. Wirtz recently entered North Central's career top 10 in digs, while Hermann is now in the top 10 in total blocks.
The Cardinals travel to the Wheaton College Tournament for four matches on Friday and Saturday.
