MEQUON, Wis. (Sept. 4, 2009) - The North Central College volleyball team extended its unbeaten start to four matches on Friday, winning its first two matches at the Wisconsin Lutheran College Tournament.
The Cardinals opened play in the tournament with a 3-1 victory over Carroll College (Wis.), then beat the University of Minnesota-Morris, 3-0.
North Central won the first two sets against Carroll, 25-16 and 25-21. After a 25-21 loss in the third set, the Cardinals closed out the match with a 25-23 victory.
Crystal Wright paced North Central with 16 kills and three service aces, while
Ryan Lally turned in 35 assists and
Stephanie Ryding totaled 29 digs.
After a 25-21 win in the opening set against UMM, the Cardinals dominated play, winning the next two frames, 25-13 and 25-14.
Wright totaled 11 kills in North Central's second win of the afternoon, while Ryding finished with 17 digs and Lally totaled 31 assists.
The Cardinals return to action at WLC on Saturday, taking on North Central University (Minn.) at noon and Lawrence University (Wis.) at 2 p.m.
