Oct. 18, 2010-- Charlie Stanke found Steven Mackey for the game-winner in the 65th minute of play as the North Central College men's soccer team stunned regionally-ranked Concordia University Wisconsin, 2-1, Monday night in a non-conference match inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.

Mackey's goal off a Stanke assist 64:31 into the contest proved to be the decisive score as the Cardinals (5-7-3) snapped the Falcons (9-4-3) nine-game unbeaten streak.

Concordia, ranked eighth in the National Soccer Coaches Association Central Region, opened up the scoring in the 15th minute with Zach Lemler scoring off a feed from Kyle Sytsma. The Cardinals equalized the score less than three minutes later with Charlie Stanke collecting the rebound off a Michael Lenzi shot after it ricocheted off the post. The score would remain tied heading into the half with the home side holding an 8-6 edge on shots, including a 3-2 advantage on shots on target.

Mike McEvoy and Kyle DeRaedt split time in goal for the Cardinals, McEvoy logged the opening 45 minutes and recorded one save while DeRaedt picked up the win, notching two saves in the final 45 minutes of play. Concordia's Samuel Ische stopped four shots on the night.

Monday's match was North Central's final non-conference match of the season, finishing with a 5-4-2 record against non-league foes.
 
The Cardinals close out their three-game homestand on Sunday, Oct. 24, facing Carthage College at 1 p.m. inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
