Cardinals Drop Five-Setter at Augustana

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Oct. 19, 2010) -
The North Central College volleyball team appeared poised to claim its third College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin match of the season on Tuesday, but a resilient Augustana College squad rallied from a 2-0 deficit and defeated the Cardinals, 3-2, at the Carver Center.

The Cardinals (12-17, 2-4 CCIW) cruised to victories in the first two sets, 25-20 and 25-16, before Augustana drew even by winning the next two sets by identical scores of 25-23. The Vikings (10-16, 4-2 CCIW) closed the match out in the fifth and final set, winning, 15-11.

Crystal Wright finished with a season-high 20 kills for North Central, while Jenae Harner finished with 12 and Megan Postema added 10. Sarah Eggert finished with a match-high 35 digs, while Wright and Jamie Drozd each totaled 20. Alli Briner turned in five total blocks and Ryan Lally finished with 51 assists.

The Cardinals are idle until Tuesday, Oct. 26, when they host Carthage College in their final home match of the season. Play is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., with Senior Night festivities to take place prior to the start of the match.
