Oct. 24, 2010-- North Central College closed out its three-game homestand on Sunday inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium, falling 1-0 to Carthage College in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin men's soccer match.

Neither squad was able to find the back of the net in the opening half, with the visiting Red Men (10-6-1, 3-2 CCIW) enjoying a 7-4 edge in shots including a 4-2 advantage on shots on net.

Carthage broke through in the 51st minute with Greg Pignataro scoring the game's lone goal off an assist from Cesar Castanon. The Cardinals (5-8-3, 0-4-1) attempted a late rally and had two corner kicks in the waning moments of the game but were unable to equalize the score. The Red Men ended the contest with a 14-9 edge in shots with a 6-4 advantage in shots on target.

Phillip Klipp recorded five saves in goal for the Cardinals, logging all 90 minutes while his counterpart Aaron Dirck turned away four shots for the shutout win.

North Central returns to the pitch on Wednesday, Oct. 27, traveling to Rock Island, Ill. where they will face Augustana College in the team's final road game of the season.
