Matt Wenger and wide receiver
Joe Antonacci have been selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Football Players of the Week on Defense and Special Teams, respectively, for the week of Oct. 23.
The pair were honored for their efforts in the Cardinals'
30-7 victory over Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday. Wenger finished with a season-high 14 tackles and a 21-yard fumble return for a touchdown, while Antonacci totaled 128 all-purpose yards and averaged nearly 25 yards per punt return while also catching a 13-yard touchdown pass.
Wenger, an American Football Coaches Association All-American and the CCIW Defensive Player of the Year in 2008, was also a Player of the Week selection on Sept. 25. Antonacci also received a Special Teams Player of the Week nod last season.
North Central has had two other Special Teams Player of the Week honorees this year, as kicker
Nick Dace received the distinction on Oct. 2 and punter
Shaun Wild did the same on Sept. 25. Wide receiver
Steve Hlavac was named the CCIW's Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 18.
North Central travels to face Elmhurst College (5-2, 2-2 CCIW) on Saturday. Kickoff at Langhorst Field is scheduled for 1 p.m. North Central's campus radio station,
