Vikings Rally Past Cardinals, 4-2

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Oct. 27, 2010)-- North Central College held an early lead but was unable to sustain a second half surge by host Augustana College, falling, 4-2, Wednesday afternoon in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin men's soccer match at Ericson Field.

The Cardinals (5-9-3, 0-5-1 CCIW) opened the scoring in the seventh minute with Tyler Lundquist scoring unassisted. The Vikings (8-9-1, 4-2 CCIW) equalized the score in the 11th minute as Sean O'Malley fed Matt Shipon for the goal. North Central would regain the lead 19 minutes later with Pete Zimmermann scoring his third goal of the season in the 30th minute to give the visitors the 2-1 edge. The Cardinals would take the one goal lead into the half, outshooting Augustana 12-4.

The Vikings would come alive in the 61st minute with Greg Maggio netting the equalizer before Jason Beckus netted the game winner three minutes later off a Sean Fidlow corner kick. Fidlow would cement the game with a goal in the 78th minute off a Kevin Wyrostek assist.

Cardinal goalkeeper Mike McEvoy recorded four saves in the losing effort while Augustana's Tyler Cowherd and Steven Zahrobsky combined to stop seven shots on the afternoon.

The Cardinals close out their 2010 campaign on Saturday, October 31, hosting North Park University at 2:30 p.m. inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
