Men's Soccer Falls 3-0 in Season Finale

Oct. 30, 2010-- The North Central College men's soccer team closed out its 2010 season on Saturday, falling 3-0 to North Park University in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin match at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.

The Vikings, ranked fourth in the Central Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, opened the scoring in the 28th minute with Kris Grahn finding Mike Herbst for the 1-0 lead. North Park added its second goal of the afternoon just 24 seconds before the half, as Herbst set up the Sehten Hills score. The Vikings concluded the scoring in the 59th minute with a goal from Grahn, pushing the visitors edge to 3-0.

Kyle DeRaedt made his first start in goal for the Cardinals, recording five saves in 90 minute of work. North Park's Tim Ahlberg stopped five shots to earn the shutout.

North Park was the sixth regionally ranked opponent to face North Central this season with the Cardinals going 1-4-1 in those games.

With the loss, North Central ends the 2010 season with a 5-10-3 overall record and a 0-6-1 mark in CCIW action. The win improves North Park to 10-4-2 overall and 4-1-2 in conference play.
