Oct. 5, 2010 -
North Central College kicker Nick Dace has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Special Teams Football Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 2.

Dace received the distinction for his contributions to the Cardinals' 43-8 victory over CCIW rival Carthage College on Saturday. He connected on four extra-point attempts and three field goals, including a 49-yard attempt that stands as the second-longest made field goal in North Central history.

This is the second straight week that a North Central player has been named the CCIW's top special-teams performer. Punter Shaun Wild received the award last week.

North Central has had two other Player of the Week honorees this year, as linebacker Matt Wenger was selected the Defensive Player of the Week last week and wide receiver Steve Hlavac was named the Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 18.

North Central travels to Augustana on Saturday. Kickoff at Ericson Field is scheduled for 1 p.m. North Central's campus radio station, 89.1-FM WONC, will carry the game live, and live in-game statistics can be accessed at www.augustana.edu/athletics/football/xlive.htm.
