Sept. 20, 2010 - North Central College wide receiver Steve Hlavac has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Offensive Football Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 18.

Hlavac caught seven passes for 146 yards and a 40-yard touchdown in North Central's 52-9 rout of Olivet College on Saturday. He recorded the third highest single-game yardage total of his career and became the third player in North Central history to go over 2,000 receiving yards for his career (2,074).

Hlavac, a First Team All-CCIW selection last season, receives his first Player of the Week Award this week. He currently ranks second in North Central history in career receptions (149) and receiving touchdowns (20) while ranking third in receiving yards.

North Central opens the home portion of its schedule Saturday, hosting the 17th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Kickoff at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m. North Central's campus radio station, 89.1-FM WONC, will carry the game live, and live in-game statistics can be accessed at northcentralcardinals.com.
