Sept. 8, 2010 - North Central College's Ryan Lally has been selected as one of the first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Volleyball Players of the Week for the 2010 season.

Lally, a sophomore and the Cardinals' starting setter, was named the CCIW's Defensive Player/Setter of the Week after helping lead North Central to a 3-1 record in its opening weekend of competition.

North Central opened with a 3-0 victory over Simmons College (Mass.) on Friday, then participated in the Gordon College (Mass.) Invitational on Saturday, losing to Endicott College (Mass.), 3-2, before defeating Muhlenberg College (Pa.) and Keene State College (N.H.) by identical 3-0 scores. The Cardinals won the tournament championship via tiebreaker.

Lally, who was voted the Most Valuable Player at the tournament, totaled 137 assists, seven service aces and 14 total blocks during the weekend. She turned in 51 assists and 12 total blocks (three solo) against Endicott, and tied a North Central single-match record with six service aces against Simmons.

Lally also received Player of the Week honors once last season, when she was also named Second Team All-CCIW and the CCIW Freshman of the Year.

North Central plays at Carroll University (Wis.) on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.
