Volleyball Drops Pair at IWU

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (Oct. 2, 2011) - The North Central College volleyball team suffered a pair of 3-1 losses at Illinois Wesleyan University's Barker Classic on Saturday, falling to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater to fall to 10-9 on the season.

The Cardinals opened the day against UW-Platteville (14-6), which claimed the first two sets, 25-14 and 25-15. North Central bounced back to win the third set, 25-20, but lost a hard-fought fourth set, 25-22, and took the loss.

Jenae Harner and Amber Ladwig put up eight kills apiece to lead North Central's offense, as Ryan Lally finished with 32 assists. Harner added two service aces, while Sarah Eggert put up 13 digs and Kedryn Orrison finished with four total blocks.

North Central dropped the first set against UW-Whitewater (15-4), 25-20, but breezed to a 25-14 victory to even the match at one set each. The Warhawks regrouped and came out on top in the next two sets, 25-20 and 25-16. 

Harner finished with nine kills and Orrison totaled seven, with Lally recording 30 assists. Eggert and Harner had 19 and 17 digs, respectively, and Orrison shared the team lead in blocks with Ladwig (3). 

The Cardinals return to College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin play on Tuesday, hosting Wheaton College (11-7, 1-2 CCIW) at 7 p.m. North Central is 2-1 in CCIW contests thus far this season.
