Men's Soccer Falls to Augustana, 3-1

Oct. 26, 2011-- On the final home game of the season the North Central College men's soccer team was defeated by CCIW counterpart Augustana College, 3-1, on Wednesday night at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.

The Cardinals outshot the Vikings (12-6-0) by a margin of 9-4 in the first half but neither team was able to find the back of the net sending the teams into halftime with the score tied at zero.

North Central took the lead just three minutes into the second half as Ryan Carroll capitalized on an Augustana mishap scoring on the open net from 25 yards out.  Augustana would redeem themselves no more than five minutes later as Matt Shipon got Augustana on the board notting the score at, 1-1.

In the 64th minute, Sean Fidlow would connect on his team leading 12th goal of the season giving Augustana a, 2-1, lead.  Grant Halter would put the game out of reach as he found the back of the net in the 80th minute for the Vikings.

Goalkeeper Brett Johnson improved his record to 4-0 for the Vikings compiling 7 saves on the night.  Mike McEvoy and Phillip Klipp split time in the goal for the Cardinals, each recording 4 saves on night.  Klipp was recorded with the loss giving up the first two Viking goals.

North Central completes their season on Saturday, Oct. 29 as they travel to North Park University with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
