Oct. 4, 2011-- The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin released its weekly award winners on Tuesday with North Central College's
Alicia Zimmerman winning Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week honors for the second time this season.
Zimmerman claims the honor after winning the Cardinal Classic on Friday, finishing the 6,000-meter race in 22 minutes, 12.39 seconds. Her performance helped the Cardinals run away with the team title, scoring 17 points at the four-team event. College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin rival Wheaton College was second with 46 points while Concordia University Wisconsin was third (85 points) and Illinois Wesleyan University was fourth (103 points).
This is the third straight week a Cardinal has claimed CCIW Runner of the Week accolades.
Kala Bingham earned the honor on Sept. 27 while Zimmerman earned the honor on Sept. 20.
The Cardinals return to action next Friday, sending a contingent to nearby Lisle, Ill. for the Benedictine University Invitational at 3:30 p.m.
