PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (Dec. 13, 2011) -
The North Central College men's basketball team was denied in its latest attempt to post its first road victory of the 2011-2012 campaign on Tuesday, as a hot-shooting University of Wisconsin-Platteville squad pulled away early for a 71-51 victory over the Cardinals at Bo Ryan Court.

North Central (3-4) trailed throughout and fell behind by as many as 18 points in the first half as the Pioneers made 16 of 23 field-goal attempts (69.6 percent) and 6 of 8 three-pointers in the opening 20 minutes. The Cardinals were able to slow down UWP's proficiency in the second period, but were never able to get closer than 14 points. North Central's offense struggled to get untracked all evening long, and the visitors made just 16 of 50 shots from the floor (32.0 percent).

The Cardinals' Derek Raridon scored a game-high 16 points, leaving him 18 short of becoming the 23rd player in North Central history to score at least 1,000 career points. Landon Gamble added 14 points, while Charlie Rosenberg grabbed a team-high five rebounds.

Platteville (6-4) was paced by Brett Stangel's 14 points, while Matt Weik scored 13 and Rob Stallion added 12.

North Central hosts Benedictine University (3-4) on Saturday at Gregory Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
