WHEATON, Ill. (Sept. 2, 2011)-- Battling the heat and the nation's 15th-ranked squad, the North Central College men's soccer team opened its 2011 campaign on Friday afternoon, suffering a 4-0 setback to Loras College (Iowa) at the Bob Baptista Classic hosted at Wheaton College's Joe Bean Stadium.

Temperatures were in the 90's at kickoff and remained there for the entire 90 minutes of action in a game that saw Malcolm Calbert tally a hattrick for the 15th-ranked Duhawks (1-0).

Loras tallied its first two goals off corner kicks with Dan Figura scoring a header goal in the fifth minute before Calbert tallied a score in the 21st minute off a feed from Kevin Cavers.

Calbert found the back of the net again just over two minutes into the second half in a scramble in front of the net before capping off the scoring with a goal in the 51st minute on a volley from eight yards out.

North Central (0-1) finished the afternoon with six shots, four of which came in the second half while Michael Lenzi, Ryan Carroll, Tyler Lundquist and T.J. Simmons all had shots on frame.

Phillip Klipp logged all 90 minutes in goal for the Cardinals, stopping three shots while Nate DeBois and Dylan Milkent combined for four saves for Loras.

North Central returns to the pitch tomorrow at 2 p.m., facing Covenant College (Ga.) to close out the Bob Baptista Classic.
