Oct. 1, 2012 - North Central College kicker Nick Dace has been selected the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Special Teams Player of the Week for Sept. 24-30.
Dace was so recognized for the second time this season after helping the Cardinals post a 44-10 victory over CCIW rival Elmhurst College on Saturday. He tied his own school single-game school record by kicking three field goals for the fifth time in his career, in addition to converting all five of his extra-point attempts. Dace is now 17 for 17 overall on PAT kicks this season. He has also made 7 of 8 field goals and now ranks second in school history in scoring with 225 points.
Dace also received the honor in North Central's previous game, a 37-10 victory at the University of Wisconsin-Stout on Sept. 15, when he connected on field goals of 55 and 53 yards to conver the two longest field goals in the Cardinals' history. Dace holds North Central's career records for field goals (33) and extra points made (126).
Currently ranked 11th and 12th in two national NCAA Division III Top 25 polls, North Central (3-1, 1-0 CCIW) plays the first of three straight road games on Saturday, traveling to face Millikin University (3-1, 0-1).
