Oct. 16, 2012 - North Central College's
Daniel Kerley has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for Oct. 8-14.
Kerley received the CCIW's weekly honor for the second time this season after helping lead the Cardinals to a second-place finish at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational on Saturday. He was North Central's top finisher, crossing the line fifth in a field of more than 500 competitors and completing the 8,000-meter (five-mile) course in 25 minutes, 8.66 seconds. The Cardinals placed all five runners in the top 20 and totaled 58 points in the 38-team event, finishing six points off the pace of team champion Calvin College (Mich.)

He has competed in the past two national championship meets and helped lead the Cardinals to their 14th NCAA Division III National Championship last fall. He is also a two-time Division III Outdoor Track & Field All-American in the 10,000 meters.
North Central has now won five of the eight CCIW Runner of the Week Awards that have been given out this season.
John Crain has been so honored twice and
Tim Hird has received the honor as well.
Currently ranked No. 1 in the most recent national Division III Top 35 Poll released by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), North Central is idle until Saturday, Oct. 27, when it competes in the CCIW Championships at St. James Farm in Warrenville. The Cardinals will be going for their 39th consecutive conference team title.
