Men’s Soccer Evens Conference Record at Augie

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Oct. 20, 2012) – The North Central College men's soccer team evened its College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin record to 3-3 and improved to 10-6 overall after it defeated Augustana College, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon.

Lucas Habeeb netted his first goal of the season in the 23rd minute, with Ricardo Serrano providing the assist.  The Cardinal defense was dominant in the first half, holding the Viking offense to just one shot, and headed to the locker room with a, 1-0, halftime lead.

Ryan Johnson gave North Central some breathing room in the 64th minute when he beat the Viking keeper for his third goal of the season. 

The Cardinals held a huge, 25-10, advantage in shots. Habeeb led the Cardinal attack with five shots, including four on goal.   

Kyle DeRaedt was forced to make just two saves in the shutout victory, while Augustana's Brett Johnson made seven saves and allowed two goals.

North Central returns to Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium tomorrow when the host Concordia University Chicago at 2 p.m.
