Oct. 23, 2012 - North Central College's Erin Fitzgerald has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for Oct. 15-21.

Fitzgerald became the first North Central runner to earn the distinction after her performance in Friday's Cardinal Open at St. James Farm in Warrenville. She completed the three-mile course in 19 minutes, 31.82 seconds, placing ninth as the Cardinals turned in a second-place finish in the four-team event.

North Central will return to St. James Farm on Saturday to compete in the CCIW Championships at 12:45 p.m. The Cardinals have won the last three CCIW team titles.
