ELMHURST, Ill. (Oct. 3, 2012) - The North Central College men's soccer team earned its first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin victory of the season, defeating Elmhurst College, 3-0, on Wednesday night.

The Cardinals jumped ahead early when Jeff Jones connected on a deep blast from 45 yards out in the eighth minute.  John McWard made two first-half saves to keep the score 1-0 heading into halftime. 

Nine minutes into the second hlaf, Joey Faleni delivered a touch pass to T.J. Simmons who banged home the Cardinals second goal of the evening. 

Jake Muszczynski added the Cardinals final goal when he beat Elmhurst keeper Jordan Collier on a penalty kick in the 80th minute.

Despite the Bluejays 13 shot attempts, only three were on goal with McWard making the save each time to earn the shutout win.  Muszczynski and Charlie Stanke led the Cardinals with four shots each. 

North Central steps out of CCIW play on Saturday when it travels to Milwaukee, Wis. to take on Milwaukee School of Engineering at 1 p.m.
