Volleyball Cruises to Trio of Wins

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (Oct. 6, 2012) - The North Central College volleyball team encountered little resistance in Illinois Wesleyan University's Barker Classic on Friday and Saturday, dropping just one set in three matches and extending its current win streak to five consecutive contests.

The Cardinals (18-4) breezed past Robert Morris University-Peoria, 3-0, on Friday, working all 19 players on the bench into the action and winning by scores of 25-13, 25-10 and 25-16. 

North Central returned to the court on Saturday for a 3-1 win over Lincoln Christian University (Neb.) After losing the opening set, 25-23, the Cardinals rallied to win the next three, 25-19, 25-19 and 25-13. Amanda Hilmer led a balanced North Central attack with 12 kills, while Jenae Harner added 11 and Kedryn Orrison put up 10. Laura Kluk totaled 42 assists and four service aces, while Sarah Eggert posted 16 digs and three aces.

North Central closed out the weekend later on Saturday with a 3-0 win over Culver-Stockton College (Mo.) The Cardinals won by scores of 25-15, 25-17 and 25-17.

The Cardinals return home on Tuesday to host 24th-ranked Carthage College as they look to stay unbeaten in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin. Action at Gregory Arena is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
