Women's Cross Country Ends Season at Midwest Regional

WINNECONE, Wis. (Nov. 10, 2012)
– The North Central College women's cross country team finished the season with a 15th-place finish at the Midwest Regional Championship, held at Lake Breeze Golf Course.
 
The Cardinals concluded the afternoon with 426 points, while 11th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire topped the 40-team field, claiming the team championship while compiling 67 team points.  Eight-ranked University of Chicago finished second with 99 points while College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin opponent, 27th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University (142), the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (153) and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (162), rounded out the top-five.
 
Christy Cazzola of Wisconsin-Oshkosh claimed the individual title, finishing the 6,000-meter race in 20:51.83.
 
Ann Middleton recorded the top-finish for the Cardinals, completing the course in 23:19.51, good for 67th-place.  Freshmen Meghan Costanzo (23:27.55) and Anne Dipert (23:39.56) ended in 77th and 88th, respectively.  Senior Kate Lueders finished the race in 95th-place in a time of 23:51.64, and Nora Ferguson rounded out the scoring for the Cardinals, crossing the tape in 99th-place in a time of 23:55.71.
 
Maggie Lapinski ended the day in 103rd-place with a time of 24:03.88 and Amanda Marek finished 109th with a time of 24:05.99.
