Feb. 1, 2012-- North Central College ended up on the wrong side of a see-saw battle on Wednesday night inside R.A. Faganel Hall, falling 63-60 to host Elmhurst College in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin women's basketball game featuring 16 lead changes and 12 ties.

The host Bluejays (16-4, 7-2 CCIW) secured the lead for good with 7:19 remaining off a pair of Tess Godhardt free throws in a contest that saw neither squad hold a lead of more than seven points.

Elmhurst enjoyed a 13-10 advantage after seven minutes of action before the Cardinals (6-14, 0-9 CCIW) tallied 11 of the next 12 points, taking a game-high seven-point advantage with 7:54 remaining in the opening half off a Helen Muleya layup.

The Bluejays cut the Cardinal lead to just one-point with 3:12 remaining before the visitors pushed the advantage back up to six, eventually taking a 32-28 lead into intermission.

Elmhurst scored the first four points of the second half to tie the contest and neither team was able to maintain a lead of more than two points until a Godhardt layup gave the Bluejays a four-point edge with 7:03 remaining.

North Central crawled to within a possession with 38 seconds left off a Muleya layup but the Bluejays converted a pair of free throws with 18 seconds to send the Cardinals home empty handed.

Jenny Swanson and Sophie Newson led the Cardinals' scoring efforts, both tallying 10 points while Helen Muleya chipped in nine points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Devin Vaughn paced the Bluejays with 15 points while Godhardt added 13.

The Cardinals host Augustana College on Saturday inside Gregory Arena with tipoff slated for 5:30 p.m.
