Sept. 11, 2012 - North Central College's
Kedryn Orrison and
Laura Kluk have been selected the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Offensive and Defensive Volleyball Players of the Week, respectively, for Sept. 3-9.
Orrisonfinished with 3.15 kills per set and a .533 hitting percentage as the Cardinals went 4-0 at Aurora University's Jim Coleman Memorial Tournament over the weekend. She hit .650 with 14 kills in a 3-0 win over Manchester College and hit .429 with 15 kills and four service aces in a 3-1 win over Principia College. She also added seven kills and a .417 hitting percentage in a 3-0 win over Rockford College and five kills and a .714 hitting percentage in a sweep over Beloit College.
Kluk handled all of the setting duties for North Central as the Cardinals hit .350 or better in each match at the tournament. She also posted six service aces against Manchester, the highest single-match total for a North Central player thus far this season. Kluk added 43 assists and 10 digs against Principia. For the week, she averaged 11 assists and 1.69 digs per set.
The Cardinals have now won three of the four Player of the Week awards that the CCIW has bestowed this season, as
Sarah Eggert was recognized as the conference's Defensive Player of the Week last week.
