LISLE, Ill. (Sept. 15, 2012) - A seven-match win streak came to an end for the North Central College volleyball team on Saturday, as the Cardinals dropped to 9-3 with a pair of losses at the Benedictine University Triangular.

North Central led the host Eagles, two sets to none, before losing by a 3-2 count in the first match of the day, which was followed by a 3-0 loss to Lake Forest College.

The Cardinals claimed a pair of close victories in the first two sets against Benedictine, 25-23 and 26-24. The Eagles rallied late to extend the match with a 25-22 win in the third set, scoring the final three points, then evened the match with a 25-21 fourth-set win. The hosts emerged with a 15-12 win in the fifth set to close out an extremely hard-fought encounter.

Jenae Harner led North Central's offensive efforts with 16 kills and five service aces, while Amanda Hilmer added 14 kills and Kayla Murphy finished with 11. Laura Kluk provided 45 assists, while Sarah Eggert tied a career high with 35 digs and Erin Dolehide contributed a team-high five blocks.

Lake Forest took the opening set against the Cardinals, 25-16, then prevailed in a marathon of a second set, 35-33, before completing the sweep by taking the third set, 25-17.

Murphy led the way for North Central with 11 kills. Eggert finished with 10 digs and Kluk put up 24 assists. 

North Central hosts North Park University in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) play on Tuesday. Action at Gregory Arena is scheduled to get under way at 7 p.m.
