Chicago, Ill. (Sept. 22, 2012) – The North Central College men's soccer team was shutout, 3-0, on a windy day, at the University of Chicago on Saturday afternoon.
The Maroons struck just 16 minutes into the contest when Matt Vecchitto snuck the ball past the North Central goalie
Kyle DeRaedt. Despite being outshot 6-1, the Cardinals headed to the locker room just down one.
However, the Maroons continued their offensive effort in the second half. Jorge Bilbao scored on a penatly kick in the 58th minute to extend the Chicago lead, and Nic Lopez added the final goal in the 78th minute.
Chicago goalkeeper David Cohen made five saves to earn the shut out win, while Deraedt and
John McWard combined to make seven saves for the Cardinals.
The Cardinals are back in action tomorrow when they travel to Lakeland College at 2 p.m.
