Sept. 21, 2012 – The North Central College women's tennis squad breezed to a 9-0 victory Friday afternoon, playing host to NAIA opponent Purdue University Calumet.

The Cardinals (6-4) jumped out to an early advantage sweeping all three doubles matches as Jenny Velasquez and Katie Hatch downed the Peregrine (0-1) combination of Sarah Storm and Felicia Deardorff, 8-2, at the No. 1 position.  At No. 2, the duo of Madeline Urban and Reynolds Cross defeated Lauren Innes and Kara Buchholz, 8-2, while Rebecca Ross and Kassandra Bernardo shutout Sarah and Alyssa Hojnicki, 8-0, at No. 3.

In singles play, Velasquez took down Storm, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 1 while Hatch cruised past Deardorff, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 2 spot and Urban made quick work of Alyssa Hojnicki at the No. 3 spot, 6-0, 6-1.  In the No. 4 position, Cross won in straight sets over Innes, 6-1, 6-2, while teammate Rebecca Ross triumphed over Sarah Hojnicki, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 5 and Bernardo downed Dawn Jaranowski at No. 6, 6-1, 6-4.

North Central returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 23 hosting Dominican University at 11 a.m. at the NCC Tennis Courts.
