Sept. 23, 2012 – The North Central College women's tennis team cruised to an 8-1 victory Sunday afternoon at the NCC Tennis Courts over non-conference foe Dominican University.
 
The Cardinals (7-4) started the afternoon by sweeping all three doubles matches as Jenny Velasquez and Katie Hatch downed Rachel Taddy and Jillian Metcalf, 8-2, at the No. 1 position.  At No. 2, Madeline Urban and Reynolds Cross made easy work of the Star (4-5) duo of Marbeya Berner and Rosmary Orchanian, 8-2, and Rebecca Ross and Kassandra Bernardo took care of Stephanie Castaneda and Emily Hereford, 8-4, at No. 3.
 
Katie Hatch breezed past Hereford at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-0, while Urban defeated Metcalf, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 3 and Cross was victorious in straight sets over Berner, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 4.  Rebecca Ross shutout Monica Budzak, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 5 while Bernardo soared past Orchanian at the No. 6 spot, 6-1, 6-3.
 
The Cardinals return to the court on Tuesday, Sept. 25 travelling to Carthage College for a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin dual match beginning at 4 p.m.
