Sept. 5, 2012 -  The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin released its men's soccer player of the week winners on Tuesday with North Central College's Mike Tworek earning Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Tworek, a senior defender from Wheaton, Illinois and Wheaton North High School (Interactive Media Studies major), played all 90 minutes at the center back position during the Cardinals' first two games of the season. Tworek helped lead North Central to a 2-0 shutout of Adrian College on September 1 as the Bulldogs finished with only three shot attempts. In addition, the Cardinals picked up a 3-2 victory over Albion College the day before as the Britons did not score a goal until North Central held a 3-0 lead.

The Cardinals (3-0) look to keep their three-game unbeaten streak alive when they host Carroll University (0-2) at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
