Sept. 24, 2013 - North Central College's Brent Gaither has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for Sept. 23-29.

Sebhat became the third Cardinal to receive the honor this season after leading North Central to the team championship in the College of DuPage Invitational on Friday. Gaither won the individual title on the 8,000-meter (five-mile) course at St. James Farm in Warrenville in a time of 25 minutes, 38 seconds. He ran nearly a minute faster than he did on the same course the previous week and helped the Cardinals post a score of 21 points to outdistance a pair of NCAA Division I opponents, the University of Illinois-Chicago and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Gaither's selection gives North Central the CCIW's weekly award for the third time in four weeks, as John Crain earned the distinction on Sept. 10 and Aron Sebhat was so honored on Sept. 24.

The top-ranked Cardinals compete in the 57th annual Notre Dame Invitational on Friday in South Bend, Ind. The Cardinals will compete in the men's Gold Division race, which is set to begin at 2:45 p.m.
