KENOSHA, Wis. (Oct. 12, 2013) - The North Central College men's soccer team left Art Keller Field with another frustrating loss on Saturday, as Carthage College scored late to knock off the Cardinals, 1-0, in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) action.
The setback is the fourth one-goal loss of the season for the Cardinals (5-5-3, 0-3 CCIW), who are still seeking their first goal in conference play. North Central put four shots on goal in the first half, including a pair of successive chances late in the period by Ryan Johnson and Jeff Jones and an blocked attempt by Michael Lenzi, but went into halftime in a scoreless deadlock.
The Cardinals, however, managed just one shot on goal in the second period, and surrendered the game's only goal with 6:31 to play when Michael Dombrowski scored on a pass from Kevin Hilgart.
North Central goalkeeper Kyle DeRaedt saved eight shots on goal, his second-highest total of the season.
The Cardinals host Augustana College (5-6-1, 0-3) on Saturday. Action at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
