(Oct. 15, 2013) – The North Central College volleyball team spotted Augustana College an early two set lead, but battled to back to win the third set.  However, the Vikings responded with a fourth set victory to down the Cardinals on senior day at Gregory Arena on Tuesday night.

The visitors took the first two sets 25-14 and 25-16 to grab a commanding two sets to none lead.  It looked as though the Vikings would sweep away the Cardinals after taking an 18-13 lead in the third set, but the Cardinals rallied and tied the score at 21 on a kill by Holly Williams.  After Augustana took a 23-21 lead, kills by Kedryn Orrison and Laura Kluk tied the score for the hosts.

A block by the Viking defense gave them a slim 24-23 lead, but AnnMarie Bachmann's kill tied the score once again.  Jacquel Kibir-Evans' kill made the score 25-24, but the Cardinals answered with three consecutive points to earn the 27-25 victory.

North Central held a 13-11 lead in the fourth and final set, but the Vikings doubled up the Cardinals the rest of the way and finished off the home team with a 25-20 win.

Kluk put for a solid all-around effort with six kills, 23 assists, and 17 digs.  Katie Connolly posted a double double with 11 assists and 12 digs, and Jessie Fiala led the Cardinals with 18 digs.  Orrison powered the attack with 11 kills.

The Cardinals head to Carthage College next Tuesday to take on the Lady Reds at 7:00 p.m.
