KENOSHA, Wis. (Oct. 22, 2013) – The North Central College volleyball team made the trip to Carthage College on Tuesday night and was swept 25-20, 25-18, and 25-17 by the Lady Reds in a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin match inside Tarble Arena.
North Central (10-18, 1-4) hung tough in the first set, but faltered down the stretch after holding a 19-18 lead. The Cardinals were led in the first set by
Danielle Williams and
Bridget White, with both contributing four kills apiece.
The Lady Reds took an early 7-1 lead and cruised to a 25-18 victory in the second set. In the final set, Carthage scored the first six points, but the Cardinals rallied to make the score 13-11 on a kill by
Kedryn Orrison. However, the Lady Reds regained their composure to take go on a 5-0 stretch late in the set and scored seven of the final eight points.
Amanda Walker led a balanced attack with seven kills and a block and a half. Orrison chipped in six kills, and Williams and White contributed five and four, respectively.
Laura Kluk posted a double-double with 20 assists and 11 digs and
Jessie Fiala led the visitors with two service aces and 14 digs.
The Cardinals remain on the road and in conference play next Tuesday when they head to Decatur, Ill. to take on Millikin University with first serve at 7:00 p.m.
