WHEATON, Ill. (Oct. 4, 2013) – The North Central College men's soccer team was unable to sneak past eighth-ranked Wheaton College, Friday night in a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) matchup at Joe Bean Stadium.
The two teams took a scoreless tie into halftime, but the Thunder (8-3, 2-0-0 CCIW) capitalized on a trio of second half goals, including two in a span of 1:27.
Wheaton's Elliot Borge got the scoring started in the 49
th minute, connecting off passes from Josh Clark and Noah Anthony, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead.
In the 85
th minute, Adam Blackman extended the Thunder lead to 2-0, before Jordan Golz added to the Thunder advantage just over a minute later, giving Wheaton the decisive 3-0 win.
Goalkeeper
Kyle DeRaedt stopped 12 shots on the evening in the losing effort for the Cardinals (4-4-3, 0-2-0 CCIW). Derek Babb improves to 6-2 on the season, stopping four North Central shots.
Jeff Jones led the Cardinals with three shots on the night, including two on goal.
The Cardinals return to the pitch Wednesday, Oct. 9, travelling to Concordia University Chicago at 3 pm.
