CCIW Press Release
Oct. 7, 2013 - North Central College kicker Nick Dace has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Special Teams Football Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 30-Oct. 6.
Dace received the honor for the first time this season on the strength of his performance in the Cardinals' 31-14 victory at CCIW rival Elmhurst on Saturday. He connected on all four of his extra-point attempts as well as a 25-yard field goal to boost his career point total to a North Central-record 303 points. Dace assumed sole possession of the Cardinals' career scoring record in this year's season opener at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Dace, who also averaged 56.8 yards on six kickoffs Saturday, is the third North Central player to receive a Player of the Week nod from the CCIW this season. Quarterback Spencer Stanek has received the award twice, while defensive lineman John Focosi has been so honored as well.
Ranked No. 4 nationally, the Cardinals (4-0, 1-0 CCIW) host conference rival Millikin University (1-3, 0-1) on Saturday at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium, with kickoff set for 6 p.m. Links to live video, audio and in-game statistics can be accessed by clicking HERE.
