Nov. 30, 2013 – The North Central College women's basketball team was undone at the hands of Luther College, 108-93 in a non-conference matchup Saturday afternoon inside Gregory Arena.
With the score knotted 46-46 with 3:49 remaining in the opening half, the Norse (5-1) went on the game's pivotal run, an 11-3 streak to end the half and take a 57-49 lead into halftime.
The Cardinals (3-2) forced 13 turnovers in the first half, but were outrebounded 40-27, including an 18-11 margin in offensive rebounds.
The second half was much of the same for the Cardinal defense, giving up 19 offensive rebounds while the Norse opened up a double-digit lead at the 13:15 mark. Luther would lead by as many as 19 in the second half, en route to the 15-point win, outrebounding North Central, 80-50 in the process.
Luther shot 45 percent from the field on 45 of 100 shooting, including 4 of 13 from three-point range.
Five Norse finished in double-figure scoring, including double-doubles by Taylor Johnson (25 points, 12 rebounds) and Logan Hjerleid (19 points, 10 rebounds).
Larynn Shumaker paced the Cardinals with 17 points, while
DeJa Moore added 13.
Uzuri Williams finished with a team-high eight rebounds.
North Central travels to Saint Mary's College (Ind.), Dec. 7 with tip-off slated for 3:00 pm (ET).
